Description
Australian colour change Sapphires are pretty hard to find and so when you see one come up that is available it is worth considering it for your collection.
This Australian 1.13ct colour change Sapphire, changes from a “Lagoon” – greeny blue to a “wattle” yellow colour and is one of the better colour change combinations I have seen in an Australian colour change Sapphire.
Most people are generally happy just to have a “Lagoon” greeny blue colour Sapphire let alone one that can then change to an Australian wattle yellow colour.
What sets this colour change Sapphire apart from other colour change gemstones, is it also displays “reverse” colour change which is very rare in colour change gemstones.
This Australian Sapphire does this by displaying a green blue base colour in natural light or outside sunshine which will then will change to a distinct yellow colour when exposed to “Cool” white light or even incandescent light.
The reason this is significant is because the colour yellow is considered a “warm” colour and normally occurs when gemstones are exposed to “warm” incandescent light not “cool” white light.
So the fact that this gemstone changes to a distinct yellow colour under cool white light makes it a “reverse” colour change Sapphire, an extremely rare and collectable gemstone indeed!
This colour change sapphire has been heat treated and has a clarity rating of SI – slightly included with dimensions of 6.5 x 6 x 5mm.
With colour change stones, the stone is viewed in the same position but the colour of the stone will change when exposed to sunlight, white light and incandescent light.
