Description
This .80ct colour change Zircon from Tanzania has an underlying base colour of mauve maroon.
When viewed in full sun it has a very similar look to “Ametrine”, in that there is a very nice blend of purple with orange highlights that comes through the gemstone, making it a very attractive and unique looking Zircon indeed.
When viewed with cool white light it displays a pinkish purple colour which then changes to a very rare Cognac orange colour under warm incandescent light.
This change to a Cognac orange colour under incandescent light is fairly unusual as you would normally see a change to a raspberry red colour with this type of gemstone, making it a rare colour change combination and worth collecting.
Not all Zircons will show this colour change effect, with only a very small percentage of these types of stones will ever display colour change, which makes them a very collectable gemstone.
This Zircon has a VVS clarity rating (very very slightly included) and is also a “High” type Zircon with a high RI of 1.98, giving it a sparkle that rivals diamond.
Zircons are still a fraction of the price when compared to other gemstones making them one of the last undervalued collector stones currently available, and If they also display colour change as this one does, it can only add to their value!
