Description
When it comes to collector gemstones, rarity is certainly one aspect of what makes a gemstones collectable.
In terms of the top ten rarest gemstones found in the world, Grandidierite is considered by many to be ranked the second most rarest gemstone and sits along side Taaffeite in terms of rarity.
But these Grandiderites also put on an impressive display of “reverse” colour change and will change from light blue to yellow in colour by just using a “cool” white light source.
The reason this is significant is because the colour yellow is considered a “warm” colour and normally occurs when gemstones are exposed to “warm” incandescent light, not “cool” white light.
So the fact that this gemstone changes to a distinct yellow colour under cool white light makes it a “reverse” colour change Grandiderite, an extremely rare and collectable gemstone indeed!
This matching pair of Madagascan Grandidierites weigh in at .69cts and .54cts individually and have a combined total weight of 1.23cts.
The dimensions of these Grandidierites are: 7 x 5 x 4mm
So if you are a collector of gemstones you will soon see the appeal of adding gemstones as rare as these to your collection.
This stone is untreated and completely natural, it has a clarity rating of SI – slightly included.
