Description
This digital gemstone refractometer has wide RI range making it useful for even the high RI gemstones Zircon and Diamonds.
Unlike the traditional gemstone refractometers, this digital refractometer, does not require the use RI fluid instead uses a reflection measurement technique allowing it measure a wider RI range in gemstones from 1.400 to 2.000.
This digital refractometer comes with two test pieces with RI values of 1.487 and 1.806, which are used for calibrating the refractometer to ensure its performance and accuracy. Instructions on how to calibrate the device are included in the package.
To use this digital refractometer, simply turn on the unit, remove the cap from the gemstone sensor, place a clean faceted gemstone on the sensor and then push the “Test” button.
Once this is done an RI reading will appear on the screen, giving you the RI value it has measured for your gemstone.
You can then compare this RI value to a reference list of gemstone RI values list, to assist you in identifying the gemstone.
This refractometer is powered using a 9 Volt battery.
